Effectiveness of a Doctor–Nurse–Patient Full-Cycle Collaborative Health Management Model for Children with Atopic Dermatitis in a Day-Care Ward

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to construct and evaluate a “doctor-nurse-patient” full-cycle collaborative health management pathway for children with atopic dermatitis managed in a day-care ward.
Methods: A total of 45 children with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis treated in the day-care ward of a Class III Grade A hospital between January and December 2025 were included. Participants were allocated using a random number table method to a control group receiving routine day-care ward management (n = 20) or an observation group receiving the collaborative full-cycle management pathway (n = 25). The intervention included pre-consultation preparation, standardised in-consultation management and post-consultation follow-up. Outcomes included disease severity assessed using SCORAD, quality of life assessed using CDLQI, parental disease cognition, treatment compliance, family satisfaction with the medical service process and disease recurrence during follow-up.
Results: Before the intervention, SCORAD and CDLQI scores were comparable between the two groups. After the intervention, the observation group had lower SCORAD and CDLQI scores than the control group. The post-intervention SCORAD score was 19.86 ± 3.24 in the observation group and 29.32 ± 3.85 in the control group. The post-intervention CDLQI score was 8.95 ± 2.76 in the observation group and 14.28 ± 3.15 in the control group. The observation group also had higher rates of good parental disease cognition, treatment compliance and family satisfaction, as well as a lower recurrence rate than the control group.
Conclusion: The “doctor-nurse-patient” full-cycle collaborative health management pathway may improve disease control, quality of life, parental cognition, treatment compliance and service satisfaction among children with atopic dermatitis treated in a day-care ward. Further studies with larger samples and longer follow-up are needed to confirm its effectiveness.
